Friday Night Lights: Review
This movie is about a Texas high school football team called the Permian Panthers in 1988 where their town expects their football team to win the state championship. Anything short of the state championship is unacceptable.
I really liked this movie, lots of heart, passion and emotion expressed by the characters. These characters are very easy to get attached to and it stayed on track with the real life pressures of high school football players such as university, pressure from parents, girls, and injuries. I usually love sport movies anyway, but this one was sooo good. 4 stars out of 5 easily.
I always wanted to see this movie once I saw the commercial and I was not disappointed.
bout time..
Shogun Assassin (1980): Review
Plot: Lone Wolf and his son Daigro (wrong spelling, too lazy to confirm) are on a mission to revenge the Shogun who sent spies to kill Lone Wolf but ended up killing his wife.
What I think: Very gorish, fighting movie and pretty good for a 1980 movie. Though, there was no drama as Lone Wolf just goes through everyone like they are pawns. No drama whatsoever. I do see where Kill Bill got the gorish scenes from, if that’s what you can appreciate. I would give it 1star but it is an 1980’s film so I’ll give it 2 stars out of 5 though I really felt disappointed in how it ended.
On some other notes:
Getting a Hell in a Cell match and a TLC match at Unforgiven. whaaaaaaat??????!!!!!
Also getting my blood tested, I’ve been having problems where I find myself seriously needing sugar or I’d faint so..hopefully that test goes well..I can’t eat till I go so I am blogging to kill some time. Anyway I’m getting ready to go. Peace. Allan “chengy” Cheng
The Constant Gardener: A Re-Review
The first time I watched this movie, I was really confused due to the format on this film. I also had to try to answer questions to Lucy which also threw me off. I didn’t get the appreciate the greatness of this movie due to the confusion.
The movies plot surrounds a British diplomat (Justin Quayle) who’s wife is killed in Africa. He finds that his wife’s death is mysterious and begins investigating. He finds out that there is a major conspiracy involving the murder of his wife, rich pharmaceutical compananies and the killing of Africans. Justin risks his life, and doesn’t stop at anything in his way to uncover the mysterious death of his wife, the wrongdoings of the pharmaceutical companies and uncovering the truth.
This movie I found to be 2 times better then the first time. I am almost speechless about how good this movie is. It was both a suspense and a thriller. Just look at it this way, I found myself teary eyed like 3 times during the movie ( and I don’t like admittign to that!!!). 4 stars out of 5.
Other news:
Kurt Angle released from WWE. He is by far one of my favourite wrestlers here is a pic I found on google going back to his Three Is days (Intelligence, Intensity and Integrity)
As you have heard..pluto ain’t a planet no more. This does change the mindset but it’s not like pluto was anything more then a big ball of ice gazillions miles away.

This is the documentary of a man, a very healthy one decides that he is going to see the effect on his body by eating McDonald’s 30 days straight and nothing but McDonalds. This is an interetsing movie and if the point of the movie was to scare me about eating healthy it sure did that. A lot of interesting facts in the movie though it concentrated against Fast Food giant McDonalds instead of exploring other ones which can be equally bad. I liked this movie and it affected what I just did a couple of hours ago. I give it a 4 out of 5, interesting but not as enjoyable as other movies.
On other news, I went on a downloading frenzy yesterday night and today. I haven’t really recovered all the songs that I lost when my harddrive crashed and burned (stupid MDG products). Anyway I was using Limewire and well I found it incredibly annoying. On the songs I was trying to download it wud just open an advertisement and I wouldn’t be able to get my song :@!. Anyway I re-downloaded Ares which I stopped using due to conflicts with my firewall. Ares is much better search wise, connection speed, download speed and more reliable when it comes to working mp3s.
I also just came home from going to the bank. I wanted to buy lotto 649 which is 42 million and I got a super 7 ticket. I also claimed my winning with lotto 49 from last week (free ticket w/ Encore). My original plan was to grab a bite at McDonalds, a double cheeseburger perhaps?. Well after watching the movie, I decided to eat at Pho Mi 99 in the jane-finch interesection. Lucy and I usually have pho but I like getting the BBQ Pork fried rice. Mmmmm it was worth it, satisfied my hunger.
Anyway this is all I think I’m going to say for today. Whatever I’ve got to say tonight I’ll save it for tomorrow’s post. Later.

This stars Will Ferrell as he is the character Ricky Bobby. Ricky Bobby wants to follow in the footsteps of the father he never really knew Reese Bobby. I don’t want to further divulge in the plot because it isn’t that interesting.
This movie as any movie with Will Ferrell is a comedy. The plot was weak but the movie was funny. There were gags and I and others in the movie theatre were laughing. Funny movies sometimes dont need plot to get by. All in all, it wasn’t bad. 3.5 stars out of 5.
Check out the Vernon Wells prospect retro I had requested last weekend and here it is on one of favourite Blue Jays.
Okay I’m done for today. Later, I still got to see the constant gardener, finish the last pages of Rule of Four and download clerks 1 +2. :).

This stars Terrence Howard, Anthony Anderson, Dj Qualls and Ludacris to name a few.
Here is the plot: Djay (Howard) is a pimp with only a few hoes. Now I’m not talking glamarous, outrageous suit, blinging pimp that people like to imagine. He is simply a pimp taking money off the women he sells for sex. Djay sells weed on the side but it doesn’t look like he is all too successful. Infact he is going through a mid-life crisis where he aspires to change and become a rapper. He gets this idea while running into Key/Clyde (Anderson) who aspired to be a music producer but was stuck in a lame job. Clyde builds a cheap studio in Djay’s home and they try to make the journay to make it big.
I found this movie similar to 8 mile in a way. Just better. As there are aspiring rappers in both movies, there is more passion in the music that is displayed by the characters in Hustle & Flow. Also in Hustle & Flow it was more about being heard instead of popularity. The passion felt realistic. I also liked Ludacris performance, he seems to have a great acting career going for him. This movie is great as a person tries to go for their dreams it doesn’t come easy. This is also the lesson for those who had life dreams and never fulfilled them and they put their heart and soul to try get closer to that though they are much older now. Great movie though no all too spectacular. 4 stars out of 5.

No commentsShaun of the Dead: Review
This is a comedy with the main character being Shaun as you can see from the title. This is a parody of Dawn of the Dead which I haven’t seen. Shaun is a 29 year old who’s life isn’t really on the right track. He works for an electronic store and lives with 2 other guys one being Ed who everyone hates but Shaun. Shaun goes to the bar everday and his girlfriend is fed up. The characters are intentionally meant to play stupid and not notice that they are being attacked by the dead.
I thought this movie wasn’t bad. However, it wasn’t great either. It didn’t give me the laughs 40-year old Virgin did nor was it as stupid as let’s say Dude Where’s My Car? There are some funny parts to the movie but it isn’t the type that will leave you laughing out loud crying. Do I recommend this film? Sure I guess, I think it would be a good date movie as if you want to chat during the movie you probably wouldn’t miss too much. I am giving it 2 stars out of 5. I guess if it were funnier I would’ve done the review on Wednesday if that helps.
No comments28 Days Later: A Review
I was thinking this movie was going to be a typical scary movie just..better with some good reviews. However, I realized that this movie was excellent as it wasn’t a typical scary movie.
Here is the basic plot if you haven’t heard about it already. Animals are being tested on with a disease called “Rage”. This disease is spread by blood transfer. It doesn’t sound too deadly but it causes those infected with this disease to act like carnivorous hungry animals where they will attempt to bite anything that lives thus easily transfering blood. Our main protagonist Jim, has woken up at a hospital finding the city of London is totally empty. He has no idea what has happened as he was in a coma before the outbreak started. His adventures lead to an amazing story and will be survive this deadly disease?
What I liked about this movie was there wasn’t that many cheap thrills like most scary movies and the characters not just the main characters are SMART. None of the we’ll split up crap. People are fighting for survival and it’s great to watch their interesting story. I give it 4 stars out 5.. would be a 5/5 but the movie could’ve been much longer (which I would’ve liked) I can’t tell you much about it as it would be a spoiler. So take my advice and watch this film!!!
On other news I got to drive today to work.. pretty cool.. I think I drove pretty well. That’s all I guess.. still sucking with adsense. Later all, Allan “chengy” Cheng
