Jaden Smith to be the next Karate Kid?

Hollywood is thinking about casting Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith in a remake of the Karate Kid. I doubt people will like the remake regardless who stars in it. This is a bad idea to remake a movie that is one a classic and two just made in the 80s.
Also Smith is still quite small and 9 years old to boot… and probably not believable as a Karate kid?
I have yet to see Smith’s acting ability in the Pursuit of Happyness but it did get rave reviews so we will see when I watch the movie.
Most people are crying foul about this idea of Jaden as the Karate Kid, do you blame them?
Anywhere here is the final(and famous) scene of the Karate Kid:
Movies Out This Weekend (September 28th, 2007)

This weekend the only movie I would want to see is called the Valley of Elah. I am confused what it’s about but it looks very similar to the Kingdom but with better reviews.
The Valley of Elah stars the sexy Charlize Theron, and Tommy Lee Jones. Director is Paul Haggis who is notable for Crash and work with Clint Eastwood on Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima etc but overall he has a great resume.
The Kingdom stars Jamie Fox and Jennifer Garner looks like an awesome action movie despite the poor reviews. From moviegoers it’s gotten a great reception despite the poor reviews.
Movies I probably will forget about: Feast of Love and The Game Plan (another movie starring The Rock…he could’ve been great)
On the limited releases, an Owen Wilson movie is out called the Darjeeling Limited though with good reviews nothing standing out such that I will have to go see it.
No comments$15 Link Exchange Contest
This contest is not one of those fun contests I put on every week. This is try to get my blog ranked higher and as well as an experiment that if this proves to be a success I will try on my other blogs with bigger cash payouts.
Please have the url as http://movies.allansworld.info and anchor text Allan’s World Movies.
Here are the rules:
1. 1 Prize of $15 to be randomly selected by a number on Excel will be given out to one person via PayPal.
2. I will not hold the draw until 15 different people have entered ($1 for one person is fair right?)
3. There are three ways to receive entries:
i) If you add me to your blogroll page, you will receive a link back on this page and will receive one entry.
ii) If you add me to you sidebar blogroll, you will receive TWO entries and be added to my sidebar blogroll.
iii) If you post about this contest on your blog, you will receive FIVE entries.
4. If you have link exchanged with me in the past, it will be 20 entries awarded for a blog post about this contest.
5. If you do more then one task, then the entries multiply (e.g. adding my site to two of yours on the sidebar is 2X2=4 or a post and a link exchange would be 5×2=10)
6. Blog posts have no requirement other then a link to this contest or my blog. Either is fine.
7. Contest will hopefully end on Thursday (Thursday is usually contest day for me and I usually start a new one).
8. After all that stuff above, you MUST LEAVE A COMMENT HERE to be officially entered.
I hope this goes well.

I posted about Juno earlier when there seemed to be no trailers on it. However after my post word get out on the rest of the internet and voila a trailer was readily available especially on YouTube. I am busy so this is just filler for today. Enjoy!
He Was A Quiet Man Trailer
Hosting the contest with guess that actor, I chose Elisha Cuthbert and on IMDB I found that the movie “He Was A Quiet Man” was listed as released in 2007 though it actually hasn’t yet. Even more to my surprise, the rating so far though only in 200 vote was 8.8 out of 10. That is saying something even though it is a small sample size.
Anyway when reading the plot synopsis this story gets me much more interested in it. It stars Christian Slater and Elisha Cuthbert.
Here’s the plot synopsis from many sites (including wikipedia):
“Bob Maconel, is a disillusioned office worker with ideas of murdering his co-workers. However, on one particular bad day, Bob crosses the line from potential killer to inadvertent hero — a fellow co-worker “goes postal” and shoots up the office before Bob does. Bob stops the shooter’s plans by killing him with the gun he planned to use on the others, and in the process saves Vanessa’s (Elisha Cuthbert) life. The former invisible nobody is suddenly thrown into the spotlight of public notice, he is considered a hero by those he wished to murder, promoted by a grateful boss to “VP of Creative Thinking” with all the perks of higher management, and saves the object of his desire only to have her ask him to end her life, although her life was saved, her injuries have left her confined to a wheelchair.”
This movie looks like it has a lot of potential and I’m willing to check it out. It’s supposed to be dark comedy and that seems to be the type of movies that interest me a lot. The release is TBA maybe due to the premise of the story… no idea.
Check out the trailer though:
$8 Contest: Guess that Actor - 20 questions! Elisha Cuthbert
The actress I chose for the $8 Contest was sexy Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert. She was on the series popular mechanic kids so I’ve known her since she was a child. She currently dates Sean Avery of the New York Rangers and appeared in the critically panned Captivity and was in a soon to be released “He Was A Quiet Man” which looks very good and deserves a post on it’s own.
This is the first contest I’ve done considering a prize and I plan to try different types with the money earned from sponsored posts.
The winner of the first prize was Jorge who correctly guessed Elisha on the 7th guess.

Thank You Smoking Review
Thank You For Smoking is a satirical comedy where tobacco lobbyist Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart) is responsible for the promotion and the success of cigarettes despite increasing pressure from governments and people. Nick Naylor is good with words and good with arguing by twisting it logically and using persuasive argument.
A lot of the script is absolute hilarious. It is downright funny yet very smart. I enjoyed both the values it instilled when it needed to be serious and the funniness in the stages of argument. It seems to be on both sides of the argument and really gives a different perspective.
I generally like clever and funny scripts regardless of the material. I’m giving this 5 out of 5 as it is now one of my favorites. Check out the trailer:
No commentsBrad Pitt Replaces Matt Damon In The Fighter

I didn’t know about “The Fighter” until news came that Matt Damon had to drop out of the movie and his replacement was Brad Pitt (a pretty nice replacement eh?).
Pitt’s role is to play “Irish” Mickey Ward’s older brother. I like sport movies especially where Mickey Ward is going to be played by Mark Wahlberg it gives that extra star power that will make you compelled.
Mickey Ward I remember vividly, if you are a boxing fan or not you probably have heard about the Ward-Gatti fights where were deemed as fight of the centuries. These boxers were classy but kept throwing a million punches recklessly without thinking about giving up. Ward has the respect of a lot of fans and this movie should be good.
No commentsMovies Out This Weekend (September 21st, 2007)

This weekend has Sidney White, Good Luck Chuck and Resident Evil: Extinction. The limited releases are what excites me.
Sidney White looks like another movie by Amanda Bynes where the chick flick movie goers want to see. My sister (who’s turning 25) is going to see this one. Yuck.
Good Luck unsurprisingly has gotten shitty reviews. It looks pretty terrible especially with the trailer. Jessica Alba is hot and all but Dane Cook I just don’t seem to like. I won’t be seeing this one unless I’m forced to.
Resident Evil: Extinction doesn’t look too bad despite bad reviews for all 3 movies. Friends still like them and that’s why they have a trilogy out of it. It’s more about the action in this case and I may pick up the first Resident Evil.
On the limited releases we have two awesome looking movies: Into the Wild and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Into the Wild is directed by Sean Penn and stars Emile Hirsch about Christopher McCandless who donated 24,000 to charity and abandons all his possessions and hitchhikes to Alaska basically living in the wild. Being based on a true story and about a person that did something insane sounds very interesting. Add that Emile Hirsch should be a star.
We have all heard about Jesse James. The only reason to see this movie is to see the great acting by Brad Pitt. Other way I am marking this one down as something I want to see.
